A new documentary entitled Briefly aims to explore the role that the “creative brief” plays in the contemporary design work. Speaking to renowned architects, designers, and illustrators such as David Rockwell, Maira Kalman, Frank Gehry, and John C Jay, the short film uncovers how different creatives react to briefs and how they use them to create such exceptional work. “The brief is only helpful if there’s a point of view,” says John C Jay. “It has changed, the role of the creative brief. I don’t think it’s ever been as important as it is now,” adds John Boiler.
Briefly was created by San Francisco-based creative agency Bassett & Partners and will be available to watch online for free from 30 September.
